Jonathan Kowalski

After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a dual degree in Computer Science and Mathematics, Jonathan Kowalski worked for Applied Systems Intelligence (ASINC) as a software developer and IT manager.  ASINC develops advanced decision-aided systems using leading cognitive technologies.  In short, he was building contracted artificially intelligent software for Boeing and United States Military Agencies.

Deciding to leverage his theatrical skills and looking for more humane opportunities (realizing that the software he was building was designed to destroy human targets), Jon moved to New York City where he focused on the entering the performing arts industry.  Despite performing in many theatre jobs and winning small Off-Off-Broadway awards, he couldn’t escape his natural talent with computers.  He set out to merge his passion with his reason.

Jon, coming from New Orleans, had no contacts in New York.  Fortunately his knowledge of computers positioned him well for a New York City lifestyle.  Once people began to realize his proficiency in computers, they where quick to employ his services.  In 2000 Jon started doing small IT jobs for companies throughout New York some of which include Flatiron Database Marketing, Flying Point Media, Geeks on Time, Matta NY, and Sunshine Media.

Not only did Jonathan work on ‘fixing’ computers, he was also was building websites such as www.loft11.com, www.meetingworksgroup.com, and www.goborestaurant.com.  His most impressive contracted site was www.artlifecollective.com, where he designed the database structure and implemented all the programming.

One of Jonathan’s clients, Synergy6, became so successful that he ended up working fulltime.  He developed the MSSQL Database to manage millions of email addresses.  It was an exciting time and Synergy6, one of the first Internet Marketing firms, was generating a couple million dollars a month.  However all good things must come to an end, Microsoft and Elliot Spitzer sued Synergy6 on trumped up charges.  The charges where later dropped; however, it was too late Synergy6 had to file bankruptcy.

Conveniently the law firm that defended Synergy6, Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP, was in desperate need for an IT Director.  For the past four years Jonathan has been managing their network on a part-time basis.  With his knowledge of databases and Internet Marketing, he was also a perfect fit for a new Internet Marketing Company, Active Response Group, and was hired as their IT Manager.

Since IT management gives him freedom from fulltime employment, Jonathan has been able to start his own company with his brother.  Everycast LLC, is a full featured Internet video lecturing system.  More details can be seen at www.everycast.net.

After formalizing his consulting business, SPAM BOX INC, Jon has taken on a few high level projects for some extremely notable clients.  He created a standalone content management application for Heery International, www.heery.com. He has also recently finished developing a subtitling database system for Steven Soderbergh’s newest film, Che, in which Benicio De Toro won the award for Best Actor at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.

Jonathan even finds time to organize a weekly TV show on Manhattan Neighborhood Network called The Colors Project.  All 150+ episodes can be viewed at www.colorsproject.com
